Happy Holidays to our entire music family! It’s hard to believe that another Fall season has passed and we already have started drumline and winter guard auditions. Since there is so much that happens throughout November, I typically like to combine this issue with December…
~ Drumline & Winter Guard Student + Parent Meetings – Thursday 12/1 @ 6 pm! ~
Friendly reminder that this is a mandatory meeting for students and parents that wish to participate in the winter guard or drumline activities. We will have member info., calendars, and fair-share information.

~ Marching Pirates take 5th place in Division 3A! ~
I could not be happier for the growth and positivity that came from the marching band this year. It was a young group with over 70% of the students being freshman or sophomores. Highlights of the scoring recap include 4th place in Music Performance, 3rd in Visual Effect, and 3rd in Percussion! However, my greatest source of pride is that they made progress every single rehearsal over a long four month season! See a few action photos below!
~ Strings and Jazz Set the Standard ~
At the Fall Concert on November 15th the Symphonic and Concert Strings and Jazz Band set a very high standard for future performances! This was the best Fall concert that the Symphonic Strings have prepared in my time at OHS. The Jazz Band and Concert Strings made an amazing amount of progress from the beginning of the year; especially considering the amount of new students to those ensembles. I am sincerely excited to see how well we can perform come festival season!
~ Zero Tolerance Policy ~
The music department maintains a zero tolerance policy for students of the program who break California State Law, the Code of Conduct for Oceanside Unified School District, and/or regulations of the OHS Music Department. Infractions of these matters will be punished with or without previous warnings and will be pursued to fullest extent of OUSD policy and California State Law.
Thanks for reading and I wish you and your family the warmest of holiday seasons!
