Barnes & Noble Book Fair on December 4th!
The Oceanside Instrumental Music Program will be hosting a bookfair at Barnes and Noble, 2615 Vista Way in Oceanside from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on December 4th, 2011!
Please come by the Barnes and Noble at 2615 Vista Way in Oceanside from 9 a.m.--9 p.m. and do some Christmas shopping for everyone on your Christmas list. While you are doing your shopping you'll be supporting the Oceanside Instrumental Music Program. Be sure to print a voucher with the bookfair code so that your purchases will be counted toward the OHS Instrumental Music Program.
What? You can't make it to the actual Barnes and Noble on December 4th! No need to fear you'll miss it! You can always shop online at BN.COM/bookfairs and use the code 10620524 to participate in this fundraiser. And you can do that for 5 days! That's right--5 days from December 4th-December 9th!
There's still time to plan to help out at the craft table in the children's department at Barnes and Noble! This is always lots of fund so don't miss it! Come take this opportunity for great fun, to meet some great kids, talk to some past band members and/or future band parents, and help out the OHS Instrumental Music Program. Just come to the children's department and let the scheduled band parent know who you are and that you're there to help. We'd love to see you!

Reminder: 11/25 Football Game
Don't forget about the CIF Football Playoff Game tonight vs Valhalla High School. Call time is 5:30pm in the Band Room.
School Closed, Friday Sept 9
Due to the Thursday power outage, Oceanside High School (along with all other public schools in San Diego County) will be closed on Friday, September 9, 2011. At this time we do not have official information regarding the football game Friday night. Once that information is received we will pass it along via this web site and the Band's facebook page.

6:45 am ~ Report Oceanside High School Band/Orchestra Room. Put your instrument on the truck.
7:00 am ~ Load and leave for Disneyland
**We park in the Pinocchio lot and ride the Mickey & Friends tram**
11:25 am ~ Vehicle Inspection (Equipment Truck)
11:50 am ~ Orchestra meets at TOON TOWN BRIDGE
12:30 pm - 2:00 pm ~ Film music workshop for Orchestra
2:20 pm | Band meets at TOON TOWN BRIDGE
3:00 pm - 4:30 pm ~ Film Music Workshop for Band
7:30 pm ~ Leave Park for the buses (Mickey & Friends tram)

• All school rules and policies will be enforced.

• Being late to our workshop will result in loss of time at Disneyland

Disneyland’s polices:
• No sandals or flip flops
• Only participants, directors, and designated chaperones are allowed in the workshop
• No food or drink may be taken into the Workshop area
• No photography or video recording is permitted backstage at any time

Our final Tuesday Night Rehearsal will be from 6:00-9:00pm at the high school on Tuesday, November 30.
There will not be rehearsals after school on Thursday, we will however be traveling to the CIF Football Game at Helix High School.

Technical difficulties prevented posting updates to the site. Things should be back to normal this week.
Program Update, 10/18-10/
We've got our second competition coming up this weekend. You'll find the schedule listed below.
A big Thank You goes out to everyone who attended our Fundraising Car Wash last weekends. Fundraisers like this are a significant way we raise funds in order to keep our Fair Share as one of the lowest in the area.
Tuesday Night Rehearsal will be held from 6:00pm - 9:00pm on 10/19. All Tuesday rehearsals will be from 6-9 for the rest of the season due to field availability. (Football seems to like to use the stadium too)
7th Period Percussion & Color Guard will go from 2:30pm - 4:30pm on 10/21, as well as Wind Sectionals which will run from 2:30pm - 4:00pm.
On Saturday, 10/23 we'll be attending the Field Tournament at Rancho Bernardo High School. General admission tickets are $7, children 5 and under are free. Additional information about this tournament can be found on the WBA website at http://www.westernbands.org.

Program Update, 9/27-10/3
Another week of preparation for our season happens this week.
Tuesday Night Rehearsal will be held from 4:30pm - 7:30pm on September 28. This is a change due to the stadium not being available for us to use yet.
7th Period Percussion & Pageantry will be happening on Thursday, September 30 from 2:30pm - 4:30pm, and Wind Sectionals will be happening the same day from 2:30pm - 4:00pm.
The Second Fair Share Payment is due on Friday, October 1.
Saturday, October 2 we'll be holding our Rehearse-a-thon from 10:00am - 5:00pm at the high school. A lunch break will be taken approximately 1pm - 2pm.

Program Update, 9/20-9/26
Our first performance last Friday night at the home football game vs Mira Mesa High School is posted for viewing on our YouTube channel, http://www.YouTube.com/OHSBand. This week we continue rehearsing in preparation for our next home game (10/8) and the first competition of the season (10/9).
The regular Tuesday Night Rehearsal (9/21) will be held from 4:30pm - 7:00pm at Oceanside High School. Thursday (9/23) we'll be having Wind Sectionals from 2:30pm - 4:00pm. 7th Period Percussion & Pageantry will be held from 2:30pm - 4:00pm.
Our next Band Boosters Meeting will be happening this coming Tuesday, 9/21 at 7:00pm in the band room. We'll be selecting officers to serve out the 2010-2011 school year term, as well as planning and passing along information about events and fundraisers that are coming up. Having a student in the instrumental music program automatically makes you a Booster Member, so all parents are strongly encouraged to attend and be a part of this important process for our program.
