Oceanside Takes Second Place at Ramona

On Saturday, November 19, 2011 the Oceanside High School Band & Pageantry competed at the 21st Annual Southwest Regional Tournament at Royal High School in Riverside, CA. The band earned a score of 75.6, and a Second Place trophy. Color Guard took 3rd place and Percussion took 4th place.

We're awaiting the official update of the SCSBOA Championships Grid to tell us if we've made it into Championships. We should learn where we stand early this week. Please check back.

Program Update, 6/28-7/2

IMG_4674This week is home to Band Camp #1 which gets us started on our 2011 Marching Band season.

Band Camp #1 runs from 6:00pm - 8:30pm on Tuesday (6/28), Wednesday (6/29) and Thursday (6/30) at the Oceanside High School Band Room. Please remember to come dressed for marching, to include shorts, appropriate shoes (no flip flops / sandals), hats and sunscreen. If you're a new member who doesn't yet have a uniform please be at the school by 5:00pm on Tuesday 6/28 to be fitted.

Parade Intinerary Saturday, July 2, 2011
8:30am ~~ Call time at band room. Change into uniforms
9:15am ~~ Leave OHS for start of parade
10:00am ~~ Parade begins
11:30am-12:00pm ~~ Return to OHS for pizza.

We'll have a group attending the Corps at the Crest San Diego Drum Corps show being held at El Camino High School on Friday, July 1. Times for this event aren't yet available.

The Oceanside Independence Day Parade will be on Saturday, July 2. We'll meet at the school at 8:00am to travel to the parade start site, and be finished back at the high school at 12:00pm. Please remember to wear clothing for under the marching uniform (long black socks, marching shoes, black shorts, plain white or band shirt).

Program Update, 5/23 – 5/29

IMG_3505We're beginning to wrap up our year, but there are quite a few events to go before we're fully wrapped up.

Pageantry Auditions for the 2011-2012 School Year will be beginning on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 3:30pm - 6:30pm in the Band Room. Please remember to wear appropriate clothing for movement.

The Band Awards Dessert will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 7:00pm in the OHS Gym. Please bring a dessert to share as we celebrate the past year.

We'll be participating in the Valley Center Memorial Day Parade again this year on Saturday, May 28, 2011. Report time is 7:15am at the Oceanside Band Room. Busses will leave at 7:45am. The parade begins at 10:00am in Valley Center. We expect to be back to OHS by 12:30pm, where pizza will be provided. Please remember to wear clothing for under the marching uniform (white t-shirt, black shorts, black socks). It gets warm and sunny in this area, so bringing sunblock would be a wise idea.

Program Update, 3/28 – 4/3

IMG_3236We continue on with our winter season this week.

Drumline Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30pm - 5:30pm at the high school.
There is an added rehearsal on Friday, April 1 from 2:30pm - 5:30pm to prepare for Saturday. If you cannot attend this rehearsal, please notify Sean immediately.

On Saturday, April 2, the drumline will be performing at the SCPA Prelims at Great Oak High School in Temecula. The full itinerary is below.

Program Update, 3/14 – 3/20

IMG_2825 Our winter season rolls on this week. Drumline will have their third competition of the season this coming Sunday.

Drumline Rehearsals will be held from 2:30pm - 5:30pm on Tuesday and Thursday at the high school. Please make sure to be at these rehearsals to help insure we have the best show possible this weekend.
We'll be loading the equipment for Sunday's show on Friday Afternoon. We need all Drumline members to stay after school to pack their equipment and load it on the truck. If everyone is there and helps, we should be done within about an hour.

On Sunday, March 20, we'll be traveling to Valencia High School in Placentia, CA for our Third SCPA Show. Please make sure to get plenty of sleep Saturday night, as the call time on Sunday is 6:00am. The full schedule is below.

Program Update, 3/7 – 3/13

This week we've got several events for various groups...

Drumline Rehearsal will be held from 2:30pm - 5:30pm at OHS on Tuesday and Friday. The rehearsal was moved from it's normal Thursday date to accomodate the festival schedules.

Concert Band Festival is on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 3:00pm at El Camino High School. We will leave OHS at 1:00pm and will be back approximately 4:30pm. Concert dress is required.
Wind Ensemble Festival is on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 8:30pm. Call time at El Camino is 7:30pm, with roll being taken in the choir room at 7:45pm. We'll be done about 9:30pm. Concert dress is required.
Orchestra Festival is Friday, March 11, 2011 at 3:00pm. We'll leave OHS at 10:45am, and return approximately 2:00pm. Concert dress is required.

Drumline continues their 2011 tour with the SCPA Show at Aliso Niguel High School. Our performance time is 7:19pm. The full trip itinerary is below. Please bring a lunch and something to snack on before warmup.

Program Update, 12/13 – 12/19

IMG_0297We've now completely wrapped up our 2010 Marching Band season. A huge thanks to everyone who helped out this season volunteering at Band Spectacular, chaperoning, supporting fundraisers and every thing else that needed to get done.

Winter Guard Rehearsal will be held Tuesday, December 14 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at the high school.

A Drumline Parents' Meeting will be held Tuesday, December 14 at 7:00pm in the band room. Following the parents' meeting the monthyl Band Boosters' Meeting will be held 7:30pm in the band room. We hope to see you there.

Band Pictures will be taken at 1:30pm on Thursday, December 16. Please see the form your student will bring home for additional information.

Program Update, 12/5 – 12/12

We'd like to congratulate the seniors of our marching band on the completion of their season.

IMG_0218We've all made it home from Championships and Magic Mountain and are getting just a brief nights rest before we squeeze in just one last performance of our 2010 field show.

On Monday, December 6, 2010 we'll be joining our school in attendance at the CIF San Diego Section Division II Football Finals at the Qualcomm Stadium. Kickoff is at 4:05pm if you'd like to attend. The Marching Band & Color Guard will be traveling to the game and performing a portion of our field show at halftime.

On Tuesday December 7 we'll be having a Shakey's Pizza Fundraiser. Stop in to the Shakey's Pizza near Oceanside Blvd and College Blvd in Oceanside and order pizza (even to go!) between 6:00pm and 9:00pm and drop your receipt in the bin on the counter. A portion of your purchase will be donated back to the band.

On Saturday December 11 the band will be hosting a Yard Sale and Bake Sale General Fundraiser at the band room from 7:00am to 12:00pm. Drop off your unwanted items to donate to the sale at the band room Friday night or starting at 6:00am.

Winter Drumline Tryouts will be held this Tuesday (12/7) and Thursday (12/9) after school in the band room.

Program Update, 11/22 – 11/28

There is no school this week for the Thanksgiving break. As such, we will not be holding a Tuesday Night Rehearsal, Thursday 7th Period, or Thursday Sectionals.

On Friday, November 26 we will be performing for the CIF Playoffs Home Game versus La Costa Canyon High School. Call time is 6:00pm in the band room. A number of people will be away due to the holiday break, however unless you've already made arrangements with Mr. Phelps your attendance is expected at this game.
