Program Update, 10/11-10/17
The 2010 Oceanside High School Band and Color Guard competed in their first competition of the season last weekend at Vista Murrieta High School, taking first place in their division with a score of 60.15. Our regular Tuesday Night Rehearsal will be happening on Tuesday 10/12 from 5:30pm - 8:30pm at the high school. Additionally, our September Booster Meeting will also be happening that evening at 7:00pm in the Band Room.
Thursday 10/14 we'll be holding Thursday Sectionals from 2:30pm - 4:00pm, and 7th Period Percussion & Pageantry from 2:30pm - 4:30pm.
The Homecoming Football Game is Friday night, 10/15, but the band will not be performing at this game.
Saturday 10/16 we'll be holding a Fundraiser Car Wash from 9:00am - 3:00pm at the Round Table Pizza near College Blvd and Highway 78. Presale tickets are available from any band or color guard member. Please visit the Car Wash Information Page for additional information.
Program Update, 10/4-10/10
This week is a rather important week for our program, with our first home game in our own brand new stadium and our first competition of the season.
Updated The Tuesday Night Rehearsal on 10/5 will be from 6:0pm - 8:30pm. We will be in the new stadium tonight, however this will be a "closed rehearsal", open only to staff and students due to the stadium not being fully completed. We appreciate your cooperation on this matter.
On Thursday 10/7 we'll be holding Thursday Sectionals from 2:30pm - 4:00pm, and 7th Period Percussion & Pageantry from 2:30pm - 4:30pm.
Updated Friday 10/8 will be the Home Football Game vs Mission Hills in our own stadium. Call time to the band room is 5:00pm. We will be participating in the Grand Opening ceremonies for the new stadium.
Updated On Saturday 10/9 we'll be attending our first Competition at Vista Murrieta High School. We'll be performing at 5:22pm.

10/4 Instrumental Music Update IMUpdate_2010-09-13
Program Update, 9/13-9/19
This week marks the first full performance of our field show for the school at our first Home Football Game. Unfortunately our field isn't ready yet so we'll be playing at El Camino. Please see the schedule information below as it is very different from most football games.
Our regular Tuesday Night Rehearsal will be held at OHS on Tuesday 9/14 from 4:30pm - 7:30pm. Thursday Sectionals & Rehearsal for winds will happen from 2:30pm - 4:00pm and 7th Period Percussion & Pageantry will happen from 2:30pm - 4:30pm on Thursday 9/16.
Our first Home Football Game vs Mira Mesa will be happening on Friday 9/17 at El Camino High School. Contracts and medical forms must be turned in to be able to perform. All students must have marching shoes to perform. Please see the information in the 9/13 Instrumental Music Update for more information. We will be changing into and out of uniform at ECHS. The 2010 Handbook has information on this procedure, as well as the clothing required to be worn under the uniform.
Game Schedule...
3:30pm -- Equipment crew reports to OHS Band room, load trucks
4:00pm -- Band and Color Guard report to OHS Band room
4:30pm -- Buses roll to ECHS
4:45pm -- Arrive at ECHS, change into uniform, begin warm up.
7:00pm -- Game begins. We will take 3rd quarter off to change and eat.
9:30-10:00pm -- Approximate time of game ending
10:00-11:00pm -- Approximate return to OHS.
Our first Saturday Rehearsal will be on Saturday 9/18 at OHS from 10:00am - 5:00pm, with a lunch break from approximately 1:00pm - 2:00pm.

Program Update, 9/6-9/12
This week continues the preparation and building for our 2010 season.
We'll be having or regular Tuesday Night Rehearsal on 9/7 from 4:30pm-7:30pm at the high school.
On Thursday 9/9 we'll be holding Wind Sectionals from 2:30pm until 4:00pm, as well as 7th Period Percussion and Color Guard from 2:30pm until 4:30pm.
Please make sure your return you've returned your contact and medical information sheet (available in the band room). Additionally, the first "Fair Share" payment ($95) needs to be made as well. (Checks can be made payable to OHSBB) Both of these items are now overdue.
9/7 Instrumental Music Update: IMUpdate_2010-09-07
Program Update, 8/22 – 8/28
This week is the third and final week of our 2010 Band Camp.
On Monday and Tuesday (8/23 - 8/24) Band Camp will continue from 10:00am - 5:00pm at Mission Elementary School. Please see this post for full schedule information.
Tuesday we'll be holding a Mandatory Parent's Meeting, Picnic and Show Debut at 6:00pm at Mission Elementary. The brief mandatory meeting will begin at 6:00pm in the Multi Purpose Room where we'll introduce the staff and band boosters and provide important information for the upcoming season. Following the meeting we'll go out to the rehearsal field for the picnic, and the first performance of our 2010 field show, Expressions of the Heart.
School Begins Thursday, and our normal Tuesday and Thursday rehearsal schedules will being next week.
A Panda Express Dinner Fundraising Night will be held on Thursday night, August 26, from 12:00pm until 9:00pm. You'll need to provide them with the event flyer (available at the school) and we'll receive a donation of 20% of your total bill. You can now download and print the Panda Express Flyer!
Following the performance Tuesday night, we'll be moving our equipment back to OHS. Help from leadership and equipment crew will be needed to complete this as quickly and easily as possible. It shouldn't take too long to get everything moved back to the Band Room.

Shoe Sizing and Ordering
Shoe ordering will be held on Wednesday, August 11 and Mondays, August 16 & 23 at 8:30am in the Oceanside Band Room. Black marching shoes are required as part of our uniform, but are kept by the student after purchase.

Things to Bring to Band Camp:
1. Your instrument
2. Comfortable clothes
3. Hat, sunscreen and sunglasses
4. Athletic shoes for marching (NO hi-tops, sandals, flip-flops, etc)
5. Black gym shorts, if you have them
6. Water bottles
7. Lunch, or money for lunch
8. A positive, enthusiastic attitude and desire to excel
Participation Rules:
Students who do not fully participate in the summer program will be allowed to be on the team, but may lose performance rights at some games or shows.

A note about Mission Elementary: Due to the construction on the campus at Oceanside High School, access to fields are extremely limited. Because of this, the majority of our band camp will be held at Mission Elementary School, located just up the street on Mission Avenue (just past Pep Boys and across the street).

Program Update, 2/14-2/20
Big congratulations go out to our Winter Drumline who won First Place at their second competition of the season! The Drumline continues to build towards their final performances at WGI Championships in Dayton, Ohio in mid-March.
There is no school this week however there will still be three Drumline rehearsals, Monday (2/14) from 12:00pm-5:00pm, and Tuesday (2/16) & Wednesday (2/17) from 8am-5:00pm.
Program Update, 2/7 – 2/13
This week kicks off the first performances of our Concert Band and Wind Ensemble who both are holding Pre-Festival at El Camino High School's Truax Theatre on Tuesday, February pth. Concert band is to report to the ECHS Choir Room at 6:30pm for their 7:00pm performance. Wind Ensemble is to report to the ECHS Choir Room at 7:10pm for their 7:40pm performance. Bands and Orchestras from Lincoln and Jefferson Middle Schools, as well as the OHS Orchestra will also be performing at Pre-Festival, with the first performance at 5:00pm.
The Band Boosters will be holding their monthly Booster meeting at 7:30pm in the Oceanside Band Room on Wednesday, February 10th. We strongly encourage interested parents to attend these meetings.
The Oceanside Drumline will be having their next competition on Saturday, February 13th at Chino Hills High School. They placed Second in their division at their first show of the season on January 30th. Check out the band's YouTube account to see the video of that performance.

This week continues the regular rehearsals for our Drumline and Winter Guard.
Drumline will be holding an Additional Rehearsal and Home Basketball Performance from 3:00 pm to 8:00pm on Friday January 29.
Additionally, Drumline's First Competition of the Season will be on Saturday, January 30 at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Corona, CA. Our performance time is 5:47pm.

Program Update, 1/17 – 1/23
Our Winter Guard and Drumline are preparing their shows for their upcoming seasons. Please check back for updates of when you can see their shows.
On Wednesday, January 20 we'll be holding a Parent's Meeting for Drumline at 7:30pm in the band room. It is important that all drumline parents attend, as we'll be discussing upcoming competitions as well as the upcoming WGI Championships trip to Dayton, OH.
Thursday, January 21 we'll be having a fundraiser at Chick-fil-A at Quarry Creek (By the new Wal-Mart near 78 & College Blvd) from 5pm - 8pm. A portion of all sales with our flyer will be donated to the OHS Band. Please pick up or have your student bring home a flyer, available in the band room. Flyers must be brought for this fundraiser.
